Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

This verse takes me back to Elijah. When he and the prophets of Baal had a demonstration of whose god was the true and living. Baal had 450 prophets. That is an enormous amount. They danced, shouted and cut themselves and there was no response from Baal. But when Elijah called on the true God, the sacrifice was destroyed by fire. God demonstrated to those heathens that is the all-consuming fire.

God is so awesome. He is living. He is not dead. He is to be elevated and honored. We have to quiet ourselves and recognize who God is. He said to Moses I am that I am. Many people mock God and say He is fairytale but everyone will know that God is real. He is not a figment of anyone’s imagination. He is all powerful, all knowing and all presence. We bow in humility. All will lower themselves in reverence. Being in God’s presence at times even causes you to drop to your knees because of the awe that you feel. No one can stand. We are never greater than our Creator. He is above all and is to worshipped.

We lift our hands in adoration

To you O’ God of the heavens

You alone are God

The idolaters and pagans

Will go down to the ground

Can anyone stand in your presence?

Absolutely not!

You are the only true God

I silence myself

As I ponder your greatness

Mighty is your power

Over all creation

You caused the sea to dry

The axe to rise

The bush to burn

The donkey to turn

As the angel of the Lord

Blocked the way

When you speak

We all shutter

For your voice is like a volcano

And also, a breeze

You are known

On the hearts of man

The spiritually dead

The blasphemer

Cannot deny your being
