Luke 6:36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

As believers, we are to have the same character as God. We are to be merciful to one another in the same manner that God is merciful. After all, we are made in His image and likeness. We are to be merciful in how we treat others. Treat others with compassion. See people in the way in which God sees them. We are His servants. We imitate our God.

Just as God does you say? How is God merciful? He is merciful when he withholds His wrath from us. He is long suffering. He gives us chance after chance to make things right. We are to be rich in mercy. It should be offered to all whether they deserve it or not. Let’s be frank, most times they do not deserve it. Boy that is a tough pill to swallow especially when a person has wronged us, but we extend mercy far beyond transgression. Isn’t that what our Heavenly Father does?

Mercy is compassion

Moved within to give

Mercy is kindness

Softness of heart

Mercy is understanding

Thoughtfully consider

Mercy is grace

Favor not earned

Mercy is generosity

Big, open hand

Mercy is forgiveness

Clemency granted

All these things I find in thee

All these things I want to be
