What a concept! Bear someone else’s burdens? It is our duty to help each other in difficult times. Now, let’s be honest. A lot of times we think of ourselves and what we need from someone else. But God is calling us to be in the trenches, in the thicket, and in the rough places to help carry one another through. How do you do that? Where do I start? You can start by offering up a prayer.
We don’t have to know all the ins and outs of what is going on in someone’s life, but we can ask God to give them encouragement, give them what it takes to stand, help them remember the Word of God and believe it.
Jesus instructed us to love one another. God is love. If you are in God and God is in you, then love is in you. Love will compel you. It will give you the compassion to help someone in their time of need.
Open heart, Open hand
Upheld through beams and shades
Rising days and setting nights
In step with faith
Charity commissioned
Comforter make your claim
Hold us to your Word
The landscape is clear
We prevail

“You can start by offering up a prayer.” That’s just what I needed to hear. Prayer is powerful and effective. Love is on us because God is love and He lives in us. We can always pray.
