Galatians 5:1b and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Walking in the freedom that Jesus gave us is the key. Only through Jesus can a person truly be free. The world offers its ideas of freedom through meditation practices such yoga, mindfulness, and the like; however, these things do not produce the true freedom that comes from the Lord. Those practices are self-focused meaning you are the one who produces the peace that you need. I equate peace with freedom.

The peace that comes from Jesus is the peace the sets you at rest from all troubles. Jesus is captain of the ship taking care of you. It is freedom from sin. Jesus conquered the enemy. He never committed any sin. If we allow the Lord to abide in us, we can live free from sin. We are no longer subject to sin. We are dead to sin and alive to God.

The chains of bondage have been broken. We have to understand that we are no longer slaves to sin. We are not sinners saved by grace but we are the redeemed of the Lord. I understand the saying I am a sinner saved by grace, but saying firstly that you are a sinner is not a good practice. Our language needs to shift and proclaim who we are. We can say I was once a sinner that is now saved by grace.

You may say that I still sin from time to time. Where is your heart? Sinners are not concerned if they are doing the right thing but as believers we are. Do you willingly desire to go against God? Or is your heart saying Lord forgive me and help me to live for you? The heart tells the story of who you really are. When you are faced with a decision to do what the word of God says or what your flesh says, it is up to us to choose to go God’s way. Let us walk in the liberty that Jesus has purchased for us.

Every detail is covered

Top of the day

Till end of the night

The God of freedom

Is in my steps

Up and up

Goes the straps

They do not haunt me

No more will I be held

I am released

My talk is freedom

Expressed in every syllable

Spilling out from inside

Victory song I raise

Hallelujah is my praise
