1 Thessalonians 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

We live in a day and age where there are many attractive things. These things can tear us away from having our mind on the Lord. They are tools the enemy uses to distract us. It seems like these things can just easily lull us away. But we are commanded to not sleep. Of course, that does not mean natural sleep but spiritually be asleep. We are on duty at all times. The battle is raging and the soldiers have to be on guard.

The bible says to put on the whole armor of God. All of it. How would it be if we went out partially dressed? We would not go outside with no bottoms on with one shoe. I am sure we would get lots of stares. But we have to have all of the war gear on. Every area covered.

We cannot allow the cares of this life to cause to lose focus on the One who holds our life in His hands. Do not allow yourself to become like a zombie. Our spiritual senses must be active. The Holy Spirit is our guide and the Lord is our Commander in Chief. Let us endure until the end. The dawn of a new day is coming and let us be ready to inherit it.

Stay awake O’ sleepyhead

All hands on deck

The time is now to fight

Casting off dulled senses

Arise to face the enemy

Slaughter with the Word

The foe falls and slivers away
